Kramer Vineyards - Redesign

2015 Pinot Noir Rebecca's Reserve

2015 Pinot Noir Rebecca's Reserve

Planted in 1992, the vines in the Rebecca’s block are planted on 4 x 4 spacing. This increase in vine density applies stress, resulting in unique characteristics in the wines.

The ‘Rebecca’s Reserve’ opens with a bouquet of black truffle, forest floor and black fruits on the nose. The palate shows an outstanding minerality and mouthfeel. Black cherry, cola, peat moss and white truffle flavors connect with the tension. Drink 2018-2030. 92 points.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Aromas of black pepper, black cherry, stewed cranberries, and toasted walnut. Spicy on the palate, with cloves, eucalyptus, black tea, and moderate, chewy tannins, balanced acidity, and a long finish.
Vineyard Notes
The Rebecca's block was planted in 1992 and consists of Pommard and Dijon 115 clones. The vine spacing for this block is unique; the plants are four feet apart, four feet in between rows, with a larger tractor break every fourth row. This strategy increases vine density and applies stress while allowing for some tractor access to the block.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were harvested by hand and destemmed into a bin for a 7-day cold soak. When fermentation began, the must was pumped over and punched down twice daily. After fermentation was complete, the must was pressed, and the wine settled overnight. The wine was racked to 25% new French oak barrels and aged for 20 months until bottling. This wine was bottled without fining or filtration.
